Make available a list of the newspaer codes used in the PDF filenames so downloaded articles can be located more easily.
Having downloaded a large number of files as PDF I find it difficult to find a specific article when I need to refer to it again. I have managed to import the filenames into a spread sheet and covert the date coded in to a long format date but would like a list of newspaper names so I can arrange a lookup on that part of the filename to give me both newspaper and date.

A trick for you.
1. open your browser, make sure you signed into the site, paste in the filename of your PDF e.g BL_0000217_18590813_001_0001.pdf
2. remove the “.pdf” from the end and convert the underscores “_” to forward slashes “/” e.g BL/0000217/18590813/001/0001
3.Paste this URL in front of that: http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/
4. Hey presto! you now have the page that you downloaded with title information etc e.g http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/BL/0000217/18590813/001/0001Hope that helps!

Focus resources (our subs) on new titles/editions rather than search improvements
While it is commendable that you want to improve the search facility, for those of us sorely missing key titles or editions from the site, it would be better to focus resources there. If the title I want is not covered, it doesn't matter how improved your search facility is! I'd rather that new additions to the site are browse-only (to be made searchable later) if it means getting them online quicker

We are constantly looking at ways of upping the number of pages we publish and should have some healthy jumps in the amount of material published over the coming year.

I'd like to be able to avoid picking up sports results.
I'm searching for family history, so I search for name and place. I get the cricket and football results. Yes they may be relatives but as they only list surnames there not very useful.

Put arrows so you can move around the article/page
It doesn't seem possible to move around the page. Perhaps some arrows or a hand to allow you to scroll

Hello Hugh,
A workaround for you: before switching to full page view, simply click the “Hide search terms” button to the left before going into full-screen mode. Unfortunately, if we included all the tools in the normal mode in the full screen viewer, you would not have much screen left, but we will revisit the design at some point.

In Trove the Australian newspaper website, identified people are allowed to edit the text, and correct the inevitable errors of OCR.
Allowing editing has improved the text massively to the benefit of all
