  6. Altrincham, Bowdon and Hale Guardian

At Trafford Local Studies and Archives, we hold this newspaper on microfilm from 1904 until 1969. It is our best used newspaper and is full of detail about the local area.

  9. Manchester Weekly Times

I'd love to see the weekly version of the Manchester Times added, particularly in the 1870s and 1880s, as I think it's interesting to study regional syndication of serialization of Victorian novels, which happened around this time.

  11. More Scottish borders newspapers

There is a big gap in the 1890's for the Berwickshire News (1893-1900) and the The Berwick Advertiser (1893 -1896 and 1898 - 1903). These papers cover a wide area around the Borders with news from both England and Scotland. A very rich source of information.

  12. The Oban Times

While accessing newspapers online for historical research is advantageous, there are disadvantages. Not all years for the Oban Times newspapers have been digitised. From a genealogical point, The Oban Times’ 1879 coverage of the Police Court (accessed 2013) and social commentary offer insights into the social problems and law and order policies affecting the lives of second and third generation ancestors. Looking at newspapers for the 1880s would provide an opportunity to observe continuities and changes to social and economic life in Oban, and on…
