Tell us what publications would be of most use to you. You can be as general (Victorian cycling magazines) or specific (South Wales Argus) as you wish! We take on board all of your suggestions but are bound by copyright restrictions and our agreements with publishers, these form the boundaries of what we may publish online.

  4. North Star & Farmers Chronicle

    The North Star is a slip edition of the weekly paid-for tabloid newspaper the Highland News, covering the old county of Ross & Cromarty and including the towns of Dingwall, Tain, Alness and Invergordon.
    It was founded in 1893 as the North Star and Farmers’ Chronicle and kept that name until 1969, when it was taken into the Highland News series as the Highland News & North Star and Farmers’ Chronicle, adopting the News‘s edition numbers in the process.     Beverley Guardian/Advertiser would be terrific as it covered lots of news for the East Riding of Yorkshire areas that wasn't always covered in other papers such as the Hull Daily Mail

    Good news – The Beverley Guardian fits our inclusion criteria! We have researched the BL catalogue and it is available to us for digitisation. This title is only available to scan from the original paper (i.e. has not been previously microfilmed). Due to the British library’s move of the physical paper archive from Colindale to the custom built storage unit in Boston Spa, the paper is under embargo and we cannot digitise from paper until the new year. However, the good news is that we have the following years on our Digitisation Plan: 1856-1871.

    Please be aware that until we have received the material into our studio and checked it, it is not possible to guarantee that it will be digitised.

    In the first World War this newspaper published lists of wounded soldiers arriving in Southport in hospital trains and named the hospitals to which they were consigned.

    1914-1918 editions where possible. Ive searched on microfitch in my local library and found a huge amount of my village information for the WW1 so I know there is more than is on line...

    Thank you for your feedback. For this newspaper, we have the following titles in, or planned for, our digital archive:

    1854–1903 The Derbyshire Times and Chesterfield Herald
    1903–63 The Derbyshire Times, etc.

    Unfortunately much of the post 1900 material is only available as the original paper copy from the British Library. Whilst they move the collection from Colindale to Boston Spa, paper is in embargo. We are looking forward to scanning from paper again in the new year!
