Newspapers we should add next

Tell us what publications would be of most use to you. You can be as general (Victorian cycling magazines) or specific (South Wales Argus) as you wish! We take on board all of your suggestions but are bound by copyright restrictions and our agreements with publishers, these form the boundaries of what we may publish online.

  1. January to April 1918 Weekly Casualty List (War Office & air Ministry)

It would be great to have these missing editions for this newspaper for anyone doing WW1 research - especially as they are almost exactly 100 years ago now

  3. Cowdroy's Manchesster Gazette c 1794-1818

There is often mention of Cowdroy's Manchester Gazette in other newspapers but there are no copies of this actual newspaper.

  4. Mid 19th Century copies of Birmingham Mercury

I would like the Birmingham Mercury 1830-1860. This was a time of an immense working class movement for political reform. The Birmingham Mercury would add another slant/dimension to the newspaper reporting of that time period.

  9. Disappointed to see the Sun being added

Alot on Merseyside will not be impressed with the addition of this despicable newspaper

Nationals in particular papers like the Sun were full of lies and mistruths and only ran half the stories you already have the Mirror published I cannot see any reason for this paper to be added which will only publish the same stories as the Mirror just in different contexts.

I’d rather see the Manchester Evening News or Lancashire Evening Post being added with more regional news which meant more to locals than National often celeb orientated garble

  10. Kentish Mail - Greenwich and Deptford Observer

I am interested in looking through 1896 to 1898 for references to Mr F.E. Raven's offer of a knighthood

  14. I remember the old Library at Colindale which was wonderfully efficient. The new digital system is a nightmare. I am currently searching for

I rember the old Library at Colindale which was wonderfully efficient. The new digital system is a nightmare. I am now searching for December 1943 editions of the "Richmond and Twickenham Times" - a long established local paper of which the new library has no trace whatsoever. Can anyone tell me where to find copies? Thanks

  15. South Midlands Free Press 1858-1917

Published in Kettering then Leicester, the Midland Free Press, provides a working class viewpoint, important for shoe trade history.

  17. North Berks Herald and Abingdon Herald Series

North Berks Herald and also the Abingdon Herald series which published versions for Wantage, Wallingford and Didcot.
These papers are already held in Oxfordshire libraries on micro-film. I use a viewer at Abingdon Library, but it would be so much easier if they were available on the British Newspaper Archive.

Good news! – Driffield Times fits our inclusion criteria. We have researched the BL catalogue and it is available to us for digitisation. We have added the following years to our Digitisation Plan: 1869-1955

We are looking forward to digitising this!

Please be aware that until we have received the material into our studio and checked it, it is not possible to guarantee that it will be digitised.

    Best wishes,
    Team BNA

  19. Bridgwater Mercury

Any possibility of getting the rest of the Bridgwater Mercury added please. 1898 onwards.
