More Cumbrian Titles!
Apart from one year of the Kendal Mercury, I've been waiting an age for some Cumbrian publications.
The Carlisle Journal hasn't seen any additions since the first few weeks of your launch.
As for new publications, I would love to see some editions of the West Cumberland Times or the short-lived Wigton Advertiser.
By the way, a fantastic site bringing to light my fantastic ancestors!

I agree... I have been researching my ancestors for 20 years and the Cumbrian newspapers in the 1900s are minimal compared to other parts of the country. I would love to see newspapers like the Times and Star and later editions of the Maryport Advertiser particularly because I am trying to find a photograph that was published. Since I currently live the US, I cannot get to London to look at the newspapers that are not yet digitized.

Whilst I appreciate that you have addressed the lack of newspapers from the former counties of Cumberland and Westmorland to an extent, coverage of the 20th century is still somewhat pathetic - there are a few 'parochial' newspapers available for this period which offer little more than 4 pages per edition with very little editorial. I would have thought that by now we would have seen some coverage of the Great War by some of the 'county' newspapers (for example, The Westmorland Gazette, The Cumberland News and the Carlisle Journal) but as yet, to no avail. I seem to recall that a promise was made by yourselves to have the war covered by newspapers in every county but this hasn't happened! Please advise me as to your intentions with regard to these counties. I have had a continuous subscription either directly or with FMP since your launch. I have waited patiently until now but I cannot afford a subscription which isn't delivering the goods - I will therefore not be renewing in a couple of weeks time. This is sad because I am Chairman of Cumbria Family History Society with nearly 2000 members. I try to support as many 'providers' as I can in the industry and recommend those which will further any of my members' research but how can I recommend the BNA's annual membership when you give us nothing! I intend to post this message in our next newsletter and ask the CFHS membership to support this post.

Whitehaven News from 1874 onwards would be invaluable but other Cumberland and Westmorland (Cumbria) titles too, especially as one can't get to the county archives easily at present due to Coronavirus restrictions.

No Cumbrian titles that cover the twentieth century - I know that microfilm of these exists!

There are gaps in the Carlisle Journal series, notably between 1821 and 1833 – an important time politically. Also, it would be nice to have more Penrith coverage for this period.
