Cox - I am very anxious to contact any family of Dickie Marrin, regarding his wartime experiences. I have a copy of a letter he wrote in 1946 about a comrade who served with him in the Polish Resistance after they escaped from a POW camp; a photo taken by a Polish Resistance comrade - who is still alive aged 90 - and contact with the grandson of a Polish woman who sheltered Mr Marrin and his comrade in her home after they escaped. He is most anxious to find Mr Marrin's family. Can you help? mail@lamsdorf.com re.Dickie Marrin , I am proud to say was my Uncle . and he had the "finest tenor voice in Seaham" . I believe he was a "Carroll Levis Discovery" the forerunner of the X factor, but due to family circumstances was not able to follow his dream and sing professionally although he had many opportunities. He served in the Army during the war and joined concert parties singing to the troops. I can remember him telling the stories about being in London during the Blitz on leave and singing to the people sheltering in the Undergound . No longer with us but fondly remembered John Cox Spalding, Lincs
