Fishing News
You previously rejected this suggestion on the mistaken belief that it was a 'sporting title. It is not. It is a 'trade paper' which was very widely read in what was once a huge industry. At one time 20.000 people were employed in it in my home town of Aberdeen and this degree of involvement was replicated around the UK coast.

I agree with all that is said here. This would be a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the (defunct) fishing industry, related industries, shipbuilding, ports, migration patterns and so much more.

Can I support what Douglas McCallum Paterson has said. This is an important publication, not only for the fishing industry but also for the shipbuilding industry that flourished in places like Grimsby, Selby and elsewhere to build trawlers for that industry. Since the industry is all but gone in England now, and few, if any, trawlers are built here any more, I feel that adding this to your digitisation plans would provide not only a record of what used to be a vital industry, but also assist anyone researching the history of fishing fleets and trawlers. Thank you for listening.

Fishing News contained information about shipbuilding and fishing out of the ports of Britain. At one time, Grimsby was called "The greatest fishing port in the world". The industry employed tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of people. The industry is all but gone now, except in Scotland, so it is vitally important to preserve (and provide access to) what records are available about it.
