(Great) Yarmouth Independent 1857 to WW2
Great Yarmouth in Victorian times was a major seaside resort and herring fishery. This paper is full of interesting facts. We have a thriving local research group which uses the hard copies of the paper regularly. Unfortunately they are in a poor state
Dear Readers
We are delighted to let you know that we have now digitised the Yarmouth Independent
We currently hold issues from 1862 to 1938 and will add others as the holdings of the British Library allow.

How brilliant! Any chance the Yarmouth Mercury will be digitised as well?

This would be an important addition to the archive as the original papers are in a dire state and will soon become unusable.

A very important title to add to the archive. Great Yarmouth played a large part in the development and history of the British seaside.

This is very important to historians dealing with the Great Yarmouth area. The material contained will help researchers to understand why seaside towns were thriving in the 19thC and have declined since.
