Hinckley newspapers
Hinckley Times, Hinckley Journal
Be great if you could add all the old Hinckley newspapers as it’s a slow painful experience to have to keep going to the Library and going through the old micro phise to find out information.

An historic market town in Leicestershire the Hinckley Times covers not only Hinckley but all of the surrounding villages, this addition would be fantastic for all of the local historians

Please digitise these copies - for history, family history, research and posterity. This is the paper of my youth having lived in Stoney Stanton for 20 years, my parents living there for 40 years.

Founded in 1889 as the Hinckley Times & Bosworth Herald, amalgamated in 1926 with the Hinckley Guardian, Bosworth Herald and South Leicestershire Advertiser and became The Hinckley Times and Guardian. In 1962 it became just the Hinckley Times and is still going on now. Hinckley was a very prosperous town, being a huge hosiery and knitwear area as well as nearby boot and shoe manufacturers and home of the Hansom Cab among other notable items. The local people would love to have this digitised on your site it is one of the few Leicestershire areas you have not yet incorporated. Please help us all here. I attach a history of the paper from the Hinckley Times website for your further information. Thank you. Shirley Hincks

This is a fabulous resource for Family History and covers a wide area of Leicestershire. The historical activity and genealogical interest in this area is vast. My own family lived in the area for 300yrs. The local papers recorded everyday things in much more detail than newspapers based solely in Leicester. Please could you scan this newspaper. Thank you

This paper covered not just Hinckley but the whole of south Leicestershire. It’s published weekly so 6 times less issues than a daily but a wealth of information and local stories invaluable to family history research and anyone interested in the local area.

Hinckley and the surrounding villages have played a key role in manufacturing over the centuries and having the Hinckley Tines digitised would enable a more informed story to be told.

My ancestors include Sansome's, Flude's & Bennetts. I have looked through the fiches at the library so digitising them would be great.

I agree with most of the comments i have have seen, my family have been in the area for well over 200 years. Maybe the digitisation would allow me to find a family member transported for stealing bread!
