Hinckley newspapers
Hinckley Times, Hinckley Journal
Be great if you could add all the old Hinckley newspapers as it’s a slow painful experience to have to keep going to the Library and going through the old micro phise to find out information.

My family has lived in and around Hinckley for generations - 300 years at least. So much of this time span has been difficult to to explore real life and events, but The Hinckley Times has been a wonderful resource for the most recent hundred years or so. Sadly, so many of the old back editions are becoming unreadable and I think this fantastic provincial paper really needs to be digitised for future generations.

I think it is imperative to digitise as much of the local history as possible to enable future generations to enjoy family and social history. The Hinckley Times has been invaluable in local history; past and present.

I would love to see these old copies of the local papers digitised. I often use old newspapers for my family history research.

It would be a splendid idea to digitise this local paper. So many people are very interested in family history and social history of the area. And as another comment mentioned not just for now but for future generations

It is needed to digitise the hinckley times for history. We are living history. Without this being done thecwhole character of Hinckley both good and bad will be lost forever

Not sure about the voting protocol but think that with the future of local newspapers looking so precarious digitisation is a not only in the public interest - it is also a no brainer
-
Joe Kirby commented
With so much interest in family and local history at the moment, the digitisation of the Hinckley Times would prove to be an essential source for information and interest in the area.

Hinckley has such a rich history and though I left the town in 1955 I still like to keep in touch.

It is essential that these old newspapers going back into the 19th century are fully digitised to preserve the history of the locality for historians and social scientists. Mike Clifford

Although there are some years copied on to microfilm at Hinckley Library the filming project came to an end many years ago ... it is now essential to digitalise the entire collection and make it available to the wider public via the internet.
A valuable source of articles and photographs relating to Hinckley and its surrounding area.
