Hinckley newspapers
Hinckley Times, Hinckley Journal
Be great if you could add all the old Hinckley newspapers as it’s a slow painful experience to have to keep going to the Library and going through the old micro phise to find out information.

Many of the old buildings in and around Hinckley have been lost to time, and various council improvement schemes. These include what would have been
classed as of historical interest today, and as such should have been preserved. The Hinckley Times archives are a great source of discovery for our younger generation of the town, for the local history they portray through their columns, and the extensive collection of photographs of the long lost buildings and those depicting ways of life and events that for many are part of the framework of which they grew up in. As such it is imperative that these archives are digitised. Thank you -

My grandad had an accident- it may have been in the 1930s - he had started a new job delivering coal - the horse bolted and he suffered a fractured spine. It would be wonderful to find a record of this and the facts rather than vague references from the family.

This is the only primary source of Hinckley social history that we have. The film we have is very poor and the actual papers are degrading rapidly. Please save this unique archive for us and our future generations.

The Hinckley Times has been sharing & recording the history of the area for many years. Our streets, people, families, shops, factories, businesses & daily lives have all been included in the weekly editions. It is ‘a way of life’, to keep up with births, marriages, deaths, jobs, events, properties, politics, buying & selling as well as general news. Please save our histories for posterity to enjoy, by digitising past copies of this newspaper, before they are lost forever.
