Would love to find a story from possibly 1982 about Mr Billy warrener who was a barber in Stockton - Parliament Street I believe - the street was been demolished and his was the last standing building and he refused to move from memory - I used to get my hair cut there when i was a small boy

Plenty of interest in the paper although I feel we may be slightly overlooked due to our proximity to Newcastle and the fact they have great coverage available , but we are a totally different entity and Middlesbrough News rarely made Newcastle papers so it’s important as we rely on these stories for gleaning historical records in our city . Also the Northern Echo paper is another great paper under developed on here

The Sports Gazette was the weekly sports supplement of the Gazette in Middlesbrough, I believe it started in 1890.
The British Library have copies from 1904 to 1937, and some stories and images for local sports teams can only be found within these pages. It would be an invaluable resource for sports historians with an interest in the North East to have these publications available as the information is quite simply available nowhere else.
It is possible that the earliest editions no longer exist, so it is very important to make sure the surviving publications are digitised so that they are preserved and made available for a wider audience.

It used to be called the North Eastern Daily Gazette, then the Daily Gazette for Middlesbrough. Obviously we all know it as the Evening Gazette, although it's just The Gazette now. All the same paper.
