Sports titles
Hi - Delighted to see the Sports Argus up recently and wonder if more sports-based material is planned? From a selfish point of view I'd ask for the Sheffield Green 'Un (which does cover a wide swathe of Yorkshire & NE Midlands) but also suggest the Athletic News as a more general, historical source. Keep up the good work!

The Lincolnshire Sports Echo would be a huge benefit to the thousands of football bloggers and writers out there. Having recently added the Lincolnshire Echo, the Sports Echo would make a great addition.

There are no sporting titles (apart from parts of Bell's Life in London and The Era) in the first half of the 19th century in your list, which seems odd. I know for certain that around 1840 there was 'The Sporting Review', 'New Sporting magazine' and 'The Sportsman'. Also around 1900-1910 Land & Water' another sports journal is missing. Please do what you can. Thank you.

Yes, I'm looking for this one too. Not just football results, but histories of local individuals involved in sport.

I agree much needed and I believe they hold papers at Portsmouth Central Library but they need digitising urgently to make them available for everyone! Some of the early years were only about 8 pages and with only 50 odd issues a year it would not be too big a project to scan them all!

I am trying to consult the Racing Post and the Sporting life - from 1970 onwards.
Can you help? -

The Football Times evening newspaper was produced by the Inverness Courier between the 1920s and 1970s and is held at the public library in Inverness.
It was a classic source of sports results and news issued on a Saturday evening for many decades and would be an invaluable archive for anyone researching the Highlands of Scotland.

The Pink was I think a Midlands based paper, definitely in Coventry and I think was weekly. This would be really useful addition.

Good for East Midlands sport, especially football. Already on microfilm, so just needs digitising and indexing.

This newspaper covers Saturdays football. Before its introduction the Nottingham Evening Post's late edition would carry the football reports, but after this publication was released that practice stopped thus leaving a hole in the history of the local clubs games in the archives.

I have been unable to find an online copy of the above Magazine. This issue is reported in several Newspapers as carrying an Engraving of John Penson, Park Keeper of the Marquis Of Stafford's Trentham Estate, Staffordshire.

All Sports Illustrated Weekly (1919-1930) was important illustrated title covering a wide range of sports, with in-depth articles and good photos, and featured writers including former Athletic News editor James Catton, arguably the most important sports journalist of the early 1900s. Held in British Library, but would be very useful to make it digitally accessible via BNA.

Voted for this and agree - please don't forget 1919! Currently missing 1919-1921.

I would love to see this local Liverpool paper (from the Bolton based Cricket and Football Field) online. I have viewed at the British Library and it is a very valuable paper for those of researching football and sporting history.
