Hi, wonder if anyone can help?
My dad's family lived for many years at 36 Commonside, where the bungalows now stand. His parents moved away in 1974 when the block of houses was demolished and replaced by the new bungalows. I have never found any photos of these houses - situated between the bottom of Hands Lane/Road and the hospital - and would very much like to see some.
My dad passed away a few years ago but, towards the end, we were talking about Commonside and he said that he was certain that a stone set into these houses said 'Intake Cottages.' Obviously nothing to do with the Intake out beyond Manor Top, and more likely because the land in what is now Crookes was unenclosed?
Any help gratefully received, and if anyone can remember the houses and wants to s3wop anecdotes I'm happy to do so.

Does anyone know of a site where I can find the royal visits that have taken place in Sheffield ??
It would be good to build up a list of information regarding these for the site..

THE BAKERIES IN SHEFFIELD WERE PLENTIFUL IN MY LIFETIME BUT THEY'VE ALL BUT DISAPPEARED.
CAN YOU REMEMBER "any body's butter but GILLOTTS bread". FLETCHERS USED TO MAKE BREAD. AS DID CASTLE BAKERY, BALTIC BAKERY, STORIES BAKERY, GUNSTONES, DAVY'S, AND THEN THERE WAS A CONNECTION WITH DON BAKERY, W.A.BROOMS, NEWBOULDS AND SUNBLEST. ALL JOINED TOGETHER BY BUY OUTS AND AMALGAMATIONS.
THERE MUST BE MORE. THINKING CAPS ON.
I ASSISTED ON THE FLETCHERS AND GILLOTTS VANS WHEN I WAS A KID, TAKING ORDERS TO DOORS WHILST THEY SERVED IN VAN. DID NOT HAND ALL TIPS OVER THOUGH.

Does anyone know where I can find burial records for Ridgeway? My Great Great grandmother was buried at Ridgeway on 19th January 1944. Her name was Phoebe Taylor and she lived at 12 Bank View, Hackenthorpe. She was 27 when she died and her husband was James Taylor of the same address. I have looked in the burial records on here but the Phoebe Taylor’s on here definitely aren’t her. I had a hint on Ancestry and every detail is correct, it just says buried at ridgeway.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

Still not accessible online
The Sheffield history archives have both papers available on microfilm but it is hard to search via the indexes this would be make the whole process so much easier having it readily available online.
I know it doesn’t fit the current Irish/Scottish/Timbuktu/Outer Mongolia criteria presently but it should be given more consideration -

I believe you shouldn’t be adding Foreign titles until you have adequately filled out the rest of the country, many large important papers are still not accessible very dissatisfying I won’t be renewing my menebership!!

Very frustrating to see new titles added(mainly Scottish or Irish) and completed with dates going beyond 1950 whilst we have had no new editions in years
