Very few of the past issues are actually available here in Andover now, so digitising is even more urgent.

Currently the Andover Advertiser is unavailable to search for within the town, despite it being available on microfilm etc., due to library cutbacks etc. We need this resource for family and local history research.

A market town for 1000 years with a very interesting history, and a huge growth in population from the 1960s, many of whom are interested in Andover's past. The Andover Advertiser dates from 1858 and is still being published. It is a vital record and barometer of the newsworthy events of the town as well as being a weekly, social diary that is wholly unavailable from neighbouring district and county journals.

This small market town may be thought too small to be given priority but since 1900 the very high military presence in its area of coverage means that a great many additional people have spent part of their lives in and around Andover.
The Hampshire Chronicle and the Salisbury Journal briefly report some Andover news but that is very far from adequate for most people's needs.
