The archives of this newspaper are currently being given a secure new home under control of the local Cinderford council. Since medieval times the Forest of Dean has played an important role in the UK's naval and industrial history. Many thousands of local people, usually miners and iron or steel workers, have migrated around the world to find work. Their exploits and lives are documented within these invaluable newspapers and will be a great addition to the BNA if added, and of great interest to BNA members across the world. Thanks.

During WWII we twice stayed with a family in a cottage in the Forest of Dean. Some years afterwards I learned that the son, who lived in an adjacent bungalow had shot himself. Even at the age of 6 or 7 I had conscious that the son was ruled by a very houseproud bossy wife, and I've always wondered if the suicide inquest was reported in the local paper.
