How to optimize user experience and page load speed for an old newspaper archive
Hi everyone,
I am managing Steal Brainrot Game website that archives scans and articles from old newspapers, similar to the British Newspaper Archive content. I am currently experiencing a few issues and would like to get some feedback from the community:
Page load speed: Some pages take several seconds to open, especially those containing high-quality scans. Does anyone have any experience in optimizing images or lazy loading while maintaining scan quality?
Searching for content: When users search for old articles, sometimes the results are inaccurate or too general. Has anyone implemented advanced search, filtering by date/genre, effectively?
Layout and UX: I want to make the website easy to navigate but still retain the “classic” style of old newspapers. Do you have any suggestions for a design that is both intuitive and respects the nostalgic feel?
My goal is to improve user experience, keep readers on the site longer, and at the same time not affect speed and SEO.
Looking forward to receiving tips, tools, or real-life experiences from everyone. Thanks in advance!
