My mum Ida Hall was born at 21, Harman Street in 1912. When she married, my grandad moved to 22, Chatham Avenue. We used to visit every Saturday and will never forget how cold and bleak it was but we (my sister and I ) had great times playing in the street. It had big iron gates each end to stop traffic in the “40′s & 50′s”.
Does anyone remember our family? Grandad went to live at Chelsea Pensioners Hospital in “60′s” just before he died. My dad Albert Player was born in Stratford and we moved to Manor Park in the 1940′s.
