Wildcard Search
We need a better search facility - the current transcriptions are often horrifically off the mark. It might even help to have a wildcard option to try and incorporate all the random letters supposedly appearing in the middle of names.

These people at Ancestry.com (IMO) do not refine their search engine on purpose, so as to increase / maintain revenue. It really isn't good. Google understands misspellings and takes them into account. This one probably doesn't make an attempt! It doesn't learn as it goes. There are limits of course, but even so. Even when the spellings are matched you very often find your result is well down on the list of returns. Sign of a poor search engine. These are only databases at the end of the day!

I understand that it is not possible to have perfect scans of very old newspapers. The addition of a wildcard search capability would help overcome the problem of OCR errors and make the archive much more useful to me and, I am sure, all subscribers.
