    a large catchment area which was often overlooked in the Birmingham and Wolverhampton based papers, the Smethwick telephone was possibly the most comprehensive local weekly paper

    Great little paper read by all in West Bromwich for over a century.
    I worked as advertisement space executive/ manager for 6 years in the sixties. Loved it !

    Too True - I a desperate for Staffs and Black Country papers -especially the local ones with very local content and circulation

    Coverage of West Bromwich and surrounding towns such as Tipton and Oldbury remains non-existent.

    E.g. The Midland Chronicle, The Weekly News for West Brom, The Smethwick Telephone, The Free Press, etc. There's currently a bit of a gap.
