More Shropshire newspapers
Shropshire is hugely under represented at the moment with just 384 pages for the entire county!
My own interests lie in the key Market Town of Whitchurch.

There is nothing available for Shropshire beyond 1910. Please can we have some more for that decade and especially for the WW1 years.

Please consider adding more years of the Ludlow Advertizer - Ludlow Library has copies of the war years and they are very fragile and need to be preserved!

Shropshire is where the industrial revolution started, it shouldn't be so overlooked!

The Shrewsbury Chronicle is one of the oldest newspapers in the country and is still going strong (since the 1770s) and is the title thaty best covers the county historically speaking. We need a full run! Shropshire was the birthplace of the industrial revolution and the activity of the county is of vital importance to historians of Georgian and Victorian periods.

There is already a request for more Shropshire newspapers, search for "More Shropshire newpapers". If you were to add your votes perhaps they might start paying attention.

For some context - even the Isle of Wight has 1934 pages. The only places in the whole of the British Isles with less coverage are two highland counties and an Irish midlands county with a total population equivalent to that of a large town.

7 months on it appears nothing has changed for Shropshire?
I note there are plans to digitize a Shewsbury scandal sheet which only ran for a single year but what about newspapers detailing the daily events affecting the lives of ordinary people in the key towns of Shropshire?

I registered with you tonight. Disappointed as my research is concentrated in Shrewsbury. There is little or nothing available here or for the Shropshire area..

I completely agree - for a big county Shropshire is not covered at all well, and (for someone focussing on Oswestry) Wrexham papers offer the only option. The Oswestry-based Border Counties Advertizer (from 1849) should be given some consideration.

The Herefordshire & Shropshire border area generally is unrepresented, only Berrow's Worcester Journal occasionally refers. Ludlow & Hereford too are currently a void in the coverage.

A big YES to this. Industrial revolution, parish registers on FMP, but newspaper coverage online is minimal.

More on Oswestry and the Welsh Border Counties would be appreciated.
