More WW1 Local Newspapers
They often carried obituaries, with photos, of local casualties. As many service records have been destroyed, these can be the only detailed record of a soldier.
Dear Readers
We continue to add to our newspapers which cover the WWI period.
We now have over 80,000 issues of newspapers for this period.

We aim to include more papers for this period later in the year.
Thank you for your suggestion

Local Newspapers are often the only source for finding out more details of those who served in the Great War, given that a very large proportion of military records have not survived. The centenary commemorations to be had over the next five years will mean that there will be a growing interest in Great War history. Of particular interest are casualty rolls as these list not just those that were killed, but others who were wounded, missing or taken as prisoners of war.
