How can I find information on Poet's Corner, from the 60s maybe? I used to contribute. I would love to look back on my childish attempts.

Widnes was the centre of the |Industrial Revolution in the chemical industry. Issues still relevant today like health and safety, right to strike, security of employment, immigrant labour plus the business history aspect will be in this newspaper. For family history buffs here and in Ireland (and many other countries) it will be a boon.

As a Widnes and Runcorn historian and author I have spent countless painstaking hours searching these newspapers on microfilm reader machines often with less than good quality images. Having viewed digitised newspaper quality on findmypast.co.uk I welcome this initiative

1870 to 1918 would be a great start, but from about 1930 onwards there is a lot more in the paper about ordinary folk.
