South London Press and others covering Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark.
1914-1918 and 1939-1945 would be very welcome. South London very poorly represented. -

Trying to find information on my grandmother who I think was born in Croydon . Her name was Mary Hynes, born 1873, married William Smyth. She was a school mistress, they had a farm near Catford. Possibly buried in Lewisham graveyard with one of her sons Edward. She died in 1954. My mother was born in Catford also.
My mother was born there, Anne Smyth in 1915. -

Im trying to trace any information on the Hitchens/Hitchin family from Lewisham. Anyone related to Mark Hitchens married to Jane Shephardson around 1910. He was a haulage contractor. They had two sons (poss more) Mark John who married Amy Alice Williams and had three children, Eileen, James and Sylvia. He then remarried Judith Wilkins and had three more children Michael, Patricia and Mark. I think they also had a son called James who married Dorothy Eizabeth Robins, they had a son called Peter Mark John Hitchin (b. 23 June 1937). I think Peter then married a someone called Tolhurst and had two children called Angela and Mark, both born around 1968/69. They all lived in the Lewisham / Bromley area.

What an excellent web site! I was a Student Apprentice in Deptford from 1977 to 80 then worked in the Printing machinery division office as an Engineer until I left in 1982. Browsing the site has certainly brought back some good memories of my time in Southwark. It's also good to see some pictures of my contemporaries. Thank you to all who have put in what must be a lot of effort to make it happen.(1977-1982)
