An error occurred while saving the comment The following titles are included in our digitisation plan for Oldham:
Illustrated Oldham Telegraph
Oldham Advertiser
Oldham Chronicle
Oldham Daily Standard and Northern Times
Oldham Evening Chronicle
Oldham Evening Express
Oldham Standard
World's Fair (Oldham)We currently have over 3,000 titles on our digitisation plan, and while these Oldham titles have been added, digitisation times vary depending on the accessibility of the material for digitisation. The majority of these titles require original image capture of hard copy holdings, unfortunately, this is the slowest form of digitisation.

Over the last year, we have worked with National World to secure an agreement allowing us to digitise and publish more of their content. National World currently have over 200 local and regional titles across the United Kingdom and we are diligently working through them as quickly as possible. While the Portsmouth Evening News is on the plan, please note that turnaround times may vary depending on the accessibility of the material for digitisation.
Thank you for your comment. We source our material directly from the British Library’s holdings, and their collection of this title begins in 1874. They don’t appear to have any earlier issues.
According to Wikipedia, the title was founded in 1871 rather than 1825, so while some early editions are missing, the gap is only a few years rather than several decades.
Our licensing team is always keen to identify opportunities to fill in these gaps. If you happen to know of an archive or library that holds editions from those earlier years, we’d be very interested to hear about it!
