Howdenshire Chronicle, Pocklington Weekly News, and Market Weighton Advertiser
This newspaper covered a wide geographic area in the East Riding. Apart from the Hull newspapers the East riding is not well covered

The East Riding lacks historical news coverage and the Pocklington Weekly News certainly had a broad range and reach.

Really interested in these papers being accessible, as I have just started looking at the history of a local village

I was born in the East Riding and would love to have access to these papers, so I can see the history of my ancestors and happenings since I left the area in 1958.

For such an important and consistently good local newspaper and one that has been going for so long and in such crucial times, I am really surprised that The Howdenshire Chronicle and Pocklington Weekly News has not been digitised so that past news stories and articles can continue to be accessed by readers, be they past, present or future! Please please do so. It will be to the paper's great credit.

If the Howdenshire Chronicle POCKLINGTON WEEKLY NEWS and Market Weighton Advertiser' haven't been digitised yet then please, please let's get this done. The History of the East Riding of Yorkshire needs to be available to everyone world wide not just people locally, the above mentioned papers are a very valuable source of information for anyone researching the East Riding of Yorkshire.

This newspaper would be invaluable to anyone interested in the East Riding. Those of us who live away from the area would greatly appreciate being able to access it.

Newspapers are an awesome way to travel back into the lives of our ancestors, whether local or far away. I am following my father's family and they all came from in and around Pocklington, so to be able to access newspapers of their time from Australia would be an really big help to mine and many others.

Involved in fundraising for and opening our own community archive store and now a researcher. We know how vital it is to have online contact many of our requests for family research are from around the world - Australia, New Zealand, Canada via the internet. It is exciting to delve into the past and help people somewhere in this world without the internet we could not have this amazing experience.

My family through marriage is descended from Rev Joseph Shooter of Bishop Wilton, and it would be great to have access to information in the Newspaper. It's difficult to do local research as we live in Australia.

I have been researching my family, who were residents of Pocklington for several generations. Travel is difficult, it is a long way away for me and online sources for the area are limited. It would be a valuable addition to these if the Howdenshire Chronicle could be digitised.

My wife and I have used the Howdenshire Chronicle (Treasure House) for several years in our research for books on Pocklington in the 19th and 20th centuries. It has been absolutely invaluable to us. However, its use for us is limited owing to the distance we have to travel to Beverley as well as creating unwanted carbon!

Trying to get more info on an ancestor who was an Excise Officer in Pocklington in the 1820/1830s. This newspaper does not appear in Findmypast records and that is a great pity.

I have found this source absolutely invaluable in research of everykind...family history...local history ..The things I have found out have been amazing..I'm sure I could find out much more if the howden shire chronicle were put in newspaper archive especially researching house history and a snapshot of the area in any era of time.
I'm convinced others would get as much use out of this source as i have in their own homes without having to make long trips to a not so local archive. I can't be the only one who loathes microfilm?
Constantly getting mislaid lost or damaged. -
