Multiple Coloured Flags
I would like the ability to define the colour used for the flag when an item is added to a folder. I could then flag items to be done in one colour and items done with another. This would help me keep track of where I am.

Ability to select part of a page to save
If you want to save a specific article, it would helpful if you could select just that part of the page to save. By enlarging the relevant section on screen and then saving just that part, the quality of the image is much better than if you save the whole page and then try to edit the resultant pdf file. I have tried making screen clips using OneNote and this is reasonably successful, but you end up with several individual files and these need to be stitched together to make on file.

Start by adding the papers people are voting for ?
Otherwise pointless asking people

have the option for people to earn more 'free' articles for doing the work of rewriting the gibberish that often comes up in the auto scan
It would be great if you had an option for people to 'earn' more free access for doing the work of re-transcribing the scanned articles, many of which are not just slightly inaccurate but total gibberish.
You could have an easy system (they do this on Wikipedia, for instance) where there is a list of articles that need to be properly transcribed and users just go through them to earn 'points' that can be converted into access. (So, for e.g. transcribe 3 articles, get access to 3 more pages etc). You would just need to check the first few to…

I have been trying to narrow my search of publications of 'The Times' newspaper,
Request for assistance!!!! How do I persuade your search engine to a) Open up the section or narrow my search to the 'Times' newspaper?
And b) if I press the 'Help' button, why doesn't it direct me to a 'Help' section, rather than a 'Feedback' section?1 vote -
Searching countries
You have now added two (at least) Indian newspapers but there is no way of searching India in "Publication Place" or even under country.
Similarly it would be useful to be able to select England, Wales etc in "Publication Place", you have to start a search then select under country but cannot do this for India.

Improve transcriptions
I cannot copy and paste articles so I have to use the transcription instead. I cannot understand how, in this day and age, the transcription can be so ridiculously incorrect.

Export
Being able to export a list of the newspaper articles returned by a search with links to an excel spreadsheet would be very useful

More Scottish papers what joy
And very little else the past few months shame really as there are so many places worth looking at Oxford, Portsmouth, Norwich, Sheffield, Middlesbrough or Nottingham etc etc yet you focus only on small towns on Scotland’s coast

Start adding the papers the public are voting for
You do a great job of covering the lengths and depths of this island but I cannot see the reasoning behind some of your nominated papers whilst overlooking major and popular papers from large industrial cities and districts which offer so much history and stories to tell, whilst not saying London or Manchester papers are more worthy than small villages in Scotland surely the public votes for certain papers should be deemed worth enough of being added

Missing search items
Why is it that sometimes when I do a search I can't find the item in the results?
For instance I searched for the the phrase "Nantwich Union" in 1825 and got this result:
https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/search/results/1820-01-01/1829-12-31?basicsearch=%22nantwich%20union%22%20&phrasesearch=nantwich%20union&exactsearch=false&retrievecountrycounts=false&sortorder=scorebut the term Nantwich Union doesn't appear in the result:

Please add the papers with the most votes ?
These are enough votes to warrant you adding the Wolverhampton Express and Star yet it continues to be looked over in favour of yet more Scottish or London based papers highly repetitive and needs looking at

Allow searches to be specified using "regular expressions"
Please allow searches to be specified using "regular expressions".
This is where the user specifies a pattern to look for rather than a fixed strings. This means that the user doesn't have to keep submitting searches for the same thing.
For example.
I'm looking for Henry Boot.
The problem is that "o" can look like o,a,s,0,c. "y" can look like y and v. etc (I'll keep it simple..)
Searching for him could result is searches for:
Henry Boot
Henry Boat
Henry Bost
Henry Boct
Henry Baat
Henry Baat
etc etc. Lots of separate searches. However, a rexex search to achieve…

OCCASIONAL POOR QUALITY OF DIGITALLY SCANNED IMAGES
Whoever checks the quality of the final scanned image prior to release needs to pay more attention to the detail because, in numerous instances, the reproduction quality is so feint that it is impossible for it to be read either in the digital interpretation or by the human eye.
Because of this, I have missed the opportunity to read several articles of interest and, to the best of my knowledge after searching the HELP categories, there is no facility for the user to report these page issues.3 votes -

Too many Scottish titles and little else presently
I’m all for covering every region but not at the expense of ignoring whole regions is it not possible to add titles from Yorkshire, Wales, East Anglia, Manchester, Midlands as well as your Scottish ones it’s very frustrating playing the waiting game

Allow users to edit which paragraphs are included in a story
The OCR seems to select at random which blocks of text are to be included in a given story. Many times it would be useful to connect multiple paragraphs that your website treats as separate stories, but which actually should be only one.

Supposed to be a British archive
Sick to death of obscure old Scottish items, should be renamed the Scottish newspaper archive.I don't think they pay any attention to the forum site, very disappointing and not worth a subscription.
