  2. Improve filtering

It would be useful if could not only filter to a a particular newspaper but also to exclude a particular newspaper or newspaper eg searching I've been doing has been finding a lot of irrelevant hits in sporting titles

  6. use spell check for old newspaper scans

Most words are not read correctly in the oldest newspapers, so a word search is often nearly hopeless, but perhaps a spell check could help, obviously not for proper nouns that start with a capital letter.

  7. Change f to s in old newspapers

You will be aware that old newsprint always wrote most letter s as an f , which mafes it difficult to fearch for certain wordf. Maybe your ocr could convert all f to s for papers of those dates. The letter s is much more common than f so this would correct more mistakes than it makes.

  8. Header/footer newspaper info. on each downloaded PDF file

On each downloaded PDF file, Australian Trove has a one-line header with publication details and a footer with the link. Nice because it doesn't take up a chunk of the page, and this would be essential when it becomes possible to download an enlarged version of individual articles instead of the whole newspaper page. The article might be multi-page and would not have the info. at the top each time.

    See example:

    Examiner (Launceston, Tas. : 1900 - 1954), Thursday 12 February 1931, page 8

    Footer:

    National Library of Australia http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article51683749

  9. Ability to select part of a page to save

If you want to save a specific article, it would helpful if you could select just that part of the page to save. By enlarging the relevant section on screen and then saving just that part, the quality of the image is much better than if you save the whole page and then try to edit the resultant pdf file. I have tried making screen clips using OneNote and this is reasonably successful, but you end up with several individual files and these need to be stitched together to make on file.

  12. Hawick News and Hawick Express

Any specific explanation available as to why, for both the Hawick News and the Hawick Express, the years 1945-1949 are not in the archive. Years both before and after that period are fully covered. Given that these were separate publications it seems an odd coincidence.

  14. oswestry & border counties advertizer

I've made this plea before, some while ago, but it would be really good if the project could increase the number of years digitised for the Oswestry Advertizer from the present eight. That number has remained unchanged for quite a time. The Advertizer is a valuable resource for those researching the history of Oswestry, and of parts of mid and north-east Wales.

  15. Please can we have the Sutton Coldfield News and Observer digitised.

Besides the two main local newspapers in Sutton Coldfield there was a short lived Streetly News.

  17. Lots Need Re-Scanning

Lots of the newspapers need re-scanning, particularly looking at Cambridge Chronicle, the OCR is terrible with some, the originals just need lightening to make them easier for you to OCR

  18. Start adding the papers the public are voting for

You do a great job of covering the lengths and depths of this island but I cannot see the reasoning behind some of your nominated papers whilst overlooking major and popular papers from large industrial cities and districts which offer so much history and stories to tell, whilst not saying London or Manchester papers are more worthy than small villages in Scotland surely the public votes for certain papers should be deemed worth enough of being added

  19. Save an article in multiple bookmark folders/titles

Sometimes an atricle contains information relevant to a number of topics that I am researching. If not the 'principle' topic ie.folder name, it is often a long and complicated searches to find that information again.

The ability to place the article in a number of folders at the same time (and have the abiltiy to see this has been done) would be incredibly useful.

  20. BNA Library Access at Home

During the current lockdown, many public libraries that offer Ancestry and Find My Past but only in library buildings (which are now closed) are offering the same service to library members in their homes. You just have to log in to your library account, and then enter the username and password you are given.
How about the BNA doing the same thing?
