Hi,New to this forum also my first post1 it's christmas time,so have to get my home made 3 lane slot track out for the grandkids to play on.I made the 46 ft track around 1974 and most of the cars come from the same era made with piano wire, brazeing rod, brass plate, inline and anglewinders etc ,etc by now the foam slicks have gone hard with variuos forms of goop aplied('Goddards horse oil or STP engine treatment) and even the rubber fronts are cracked! oh dear! so I joined this forum to catch up on whats new!!looked in the history section and the name Mike Wall came up! he was replying to a article about the Hornchurch Slot Club.I met Mike 45 years ago,He had started the Newham Slot Club so that it was up and running( he was also secratary of the West Ham Club as well) I took over the reigns after a few weeks. The club was located above Hermit's model shop in the Barking Road about half a mile from Upton park football ground. Some of the members names if I remember right were Alan Stevens (no relation)Ray Rodwell?,Dave Pollard,Henry Haddy,Roger Camp (he built the 4 lane track) and the last name was Peter Crane?
who Mike Wall informs me is still involved with the slot racing sceneSo has anybody got memeries of this club would be nice to know!
