  5. Highlight the text searched for in the original newspaper - i.e. don't make us have to attempt to read an entire page in order to find it.

    Hmm almost whenever I use the search facility the keywords I searched on have a blue box around them when the results are displayed, to find the relevant place(s) reduce the image size to show the whole page then zoom in on the blue you see. Very occasionally this will stop working and no boxes display. not sure why but if you come out of the results and resubmit the search that usually sorts it out. If you have never seen the blue boxes, which this query would indicate, I suggest contacting the archive by email and seeing what they can suggest.

  6. I am trying to create a shipbuilding timeline and find it so frustrating that search results are not listed in date order. It's so obvious

    well you can if you are using Advanced Search ,just select 'date (earliest) ' instead of 'Relevance' in the box in the Advanced Search page or even when displaying results, it will be at the top of your list of results

    i agree it isn't st all obvious how to recall a saved search,
