Over the last year, we have worked with National World to secure an agreement allowing us to digitise and publish more of their content. National World currently have over 200 local and regional titles across the United Kingdom and we are diligently working through them as quickly as possible. While the Portsmouth Evening News is on the plan, please note that turnaround times may vary depending on the accessibility of the material for digitisation.

Robert Wood was born in Darlington Durham UK in 1876, his parents were Robert and Annie. No middle names. No siblings that we can find. Robert was in the Royal Navy, Reg number 156321, we purchased his records. He was only 15 when he joined and eventually became Petty Officer 1st class. Robert married Maud Trew in 1897 in Portsea Hampshire. They had 2 son's Arthur Robert Wood (1901) and Lionel Charlie Wood (1902) but Maud died in 1903 leaving Robert with 2 young sons In July 1904 Robert married Emily Lucy Rose Vine (b 1876), also known as Emily Lucy Rose Canning, Emily Luch R Vine, Emily Jackman and Rose Wood. Emily was a widow, she had been married to Charlie Jackman who died at sea, aged 28 (b. 1875 d.1902) and she was left with 3 young children: Helen Emily Jackman (1897 - 1984) Robert Charlie Jackman (1899) Rose May Jackman (1900 - 1971) We would love to know more about these three children, but we cannot seem to find out if they married? Had children? Is there any decendants? Robert and Emily had 2 children together Leonard George Wood (1905 -1991) Leonard immigrated to Australia in 1922 with the Barwell Boys Farm apprenticeship scheme, he arrived on the Barrabool and later married Ivy Millicent Dawson in 1937. Ivy Ruby Wood (1910 -2003) did not marry as far as we know. They resided at Prince Albert Road Easteny, Portsmouth UK up until at least 1943 then by 1967 had moved to Cosham We are seeking more information - Robert Wood is my husbands Great Grandfather and has inherited Roberts Navy Medals, we'd love to find out more about him and everyone else in the family.

I'm looking for information about a Thomas GRATTON b. circ 1788, married Elizabeth ABBOTTS b circa 1802. They were the parents of my great grandfather Enoch (b1838 in Burslem) who in 1866 married Hannah LYMER, (b1833, in Hanley). He became a minister in the Methodist New Connexion church in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and they emigrated to Australia in 1969. with their 3 children: Rose b1967 in Sheffield, Ernest Poole, b1978 in Bristol, Frank Lymer b1981 in Halifax, If anyone has any info about either Thomas or Elizabeth, or can direct me to someone, or organization I could pursue further I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance.
