Im researching the death of a George Howard/Haward in Deptford in the 1940s/50s. He was apparently shot dead and dumped in a toilet near Deptford Bridge. Evidently he was a bit of a small-time gangster who had fallen foul of the wrong people . This is a Family History inquiry for his descendants Thank you

My cousin Hilary Fanthorpe's father ran the chemists in Sutton village circa 1940s/50s. Another cousin, Bob Whitaker, a master cabinet maker, lived there about the same time. I was brought up in London and I remember visiting Sutton in the 50s, it was very rural. At that time all my parent's relations lived in east Hull and many of their earlier family members had lived in the Groves area. My Mum's Dad worked as a coal heaver at St.George's dock in the 1930s and my Dad's father had a wallpaper shop on the Holderness Road in the early 1900s.
