Born wells gardens 1952 grew up in and around ilford until 1976 my friend Peter still lives on Balfour road. How times have change the buses ran on electricity, no supermarkets. Going to ilford shops with my mother to do the weekly shop. Does anybody remember the greengrocer that drove around in a lorry that was his shop, you don't see the now.

Over the last year, we have worked with National World to secure an agreement allowing us to digitise and publish more of their content. National World currently have over 200 local and regional titles across the United Kingdom and we are diligently working through them as quickly as possible. While the Portsmouth Evening News is on the plan, please note that turnaround times may vary depending on the accessibility of the material for digitisation.

Inwas born in portsmouth in 1962, many parts of the city have completely changed from when I grew up there.

The part of portsmouth I was born in (born at home malins road) was demolished in the 70s, I remember the bulldozers and brick dust, we watched as they knocked down my dads (rip) local pub the centaur and we were still living in our house when the bulldozers were only a few doors down.

I saw the area I lived in being slowly flattened all around. it was quite strange walking past derilict houses where my friends had lived when walking to school. wellington place Junior&infant school.
