An error occurred while saving the comment Colin commentedI am researching for a book and need any information on Haywards of Enfield. Who were glaziers and manufacturer of iron goods. Of particular interest are the years between 1934-51. Any information no matter how small e.g where their factory was sited, would be a great help. Thank you

An error occurred while saving the comment Colin commentedUsed to go to The Trade, Top Rank, Clockhouse, New Penny & Pickwick club in the 60's and early 70's before I left blighty to go to NZ and Oz. Wound up in Perth, Western Australia and am still there. Knocked about with a guy called Barry Machin who was better known as Harry Munchkins before he took off to Torquay. Harry now lives in Melbourne in Oz and I've caught up with him a few times. Read on another site that Roy Rumble passed away in his early 60's and would like to hear more about him if any one knows ?? Also stayed in Bushey with an old mate Ray Lancashire (from S. Oxhey) in 2012. Ray took me around a lot and I was amazed how much Watford had changed ! Remember Mick Tuffy and Ian castle (Ibo) from Harrow, Gerry Farrell from Burnt Oak, Johnny Williams and Mick Cummins from Watford and many others whose names I cant recall. Would love to hear from anyone from that time, particularly anyone who may remember me. I came from Carpenders Park. Best Wishes to all

I remember the Button bros.shop in Luton,I think it was just menswear but it was expensive posh clothing and they were tailors also I think. My dad got a suit in there and we went to the counter to pay.The shop assistant wrote a receipt on carbon paper,my dad paid him the money he gave my dad one copy of the receipt and the other copy he put it in some kind of small recepticle with the money and snapped the lid shut,he then turned around and put the capsule in what looked like a dumb waiter and closed the small door, there was a loud whoosh, about a minute later there was another whoosh and the capsule had come back with his change.Apparently it was a machine called a ram.It sucks the capsule in a pipe to the cashiers office upstairs.Someone told me recently that the co op department store had them too.
