An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Tom commentedI worked in Holbeck in about 1963/64 and used to catch my bus home at the bottom of Domestic Street or, sometimes, I would walk up because there were so many shops. At that time the streets were clean and the houses well kept. Housewives still swept outside their houses and washed the flags, and donkey stoned the steps. There was pride. Now? I don't think I would care to walk up Domestic Street at all. It is senseless to destroy perfectly good properties when a fraction of the cost of demolition and replacement would cover necessary upgrades.
