How can we improve the way you find and search our newspapers?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Search "Edit Article Text" and "Show Article Text"

    Provide a search function in the "Edit Article Text" and in the "Show Article Text" so you can find the text you are interested in. This is especially needed on long articles as it it often difficult to find the text that you require.

  3. semantic search which recognises surnames, places etc

    The use of "" does not filter to surname only i.e. Brakes search comes up with all references to brakes.

  4. make bookmarked pages visible in results lists

    It would be VERY helpful if previously bookmarked
    entries were flagged up in search results (tags are already shown).

    At the moment there is no easy way of doing multiple overlapping searches and accumulating a "superset" of all the items you found, or telling if a new search has simply found an entry that a previous search had already found.

  5. Remember my 'Sort results by' choice

    I would like 'Sort results by' to be 'sticky'. I nearly always select 'Date (earliest)' but have to keep resetting after it goes back to 'Relevance'

    Why is this text entry box only postage stamp size?

  6. Email me when you add new articles that match what I've searched for

    Like Genes Reunited's Hot Matches. I want to be told when you add something useful for me, so I don't have to try to find it myself.

  7. Allow users to search by title from main search box

    Sometimes I search for a newspaper title in the search box like Dundee Courier. You should automatically pick up on this and forward me to the Dundee Courier browsing area instead of showing me instances when the name appears in a newspaper. That would be more useful
