  1. Ludlow Advertizer

The Ludlow Advertizer is partially in your archives (various years up to 1909). The physical archives are held at Ludlow Library and are becoming increasingly fragile and may be lost forever. Please archive them!

  2. Midland Reporter and Westmeath Nationalist

The Midland Reporter and Westmeath Nationalist was a newspaper which circulated in Westmeath, in the Irish Midlands, from the 1890s to the late 1930s. Owned by Roscommon newspaper publisher Jasper Tully, during the Irish revolutionary period it was, unlike its direct rival the Westmeath Examiner, the primary bullhorn for the advanced nationalist and Sinn Féin point of view. It provided a platform for the radical nationalist MP, Laurence Ginnell, who was the organiser of the Ranch War, the last major outbreak of agrarian agitation in Ireland before independence.

As the Westmeath Examiner is available online elsewhere, the availability of the…

  6. Brighton Examiner

Brighton Examiner please - 1860s. The British Library is the only library in the world holding this, and are currently 'unfit for use'. This is a crucial and valuable resource for Brighton history.

  7. Morning Chronicle, July-December 1830 & 1831

Puzzling that the last six months (Jul-Dec) of The Morning Chronicle are missing for 1830 & 1831. They are not on "British Library Newspapers" or "Gale News Vault" either

  10. The Keswick Reminder

This paper had been issued for 100+ years and is an iconic part of the local scene. If it isnt in the Remimder it never happened. The story of the town is locked in old the newsprint.

  13. The People's Paper

This is a crucially important radical paper from the 1850s, one in which Karl Marx played a significant editorial role alongside Ernest Jones.

  14. The Staffordshire

Others have asked that gaps in the coverage of the Staffordshire Sentinel be filled from 1873. I am interested also in earlier periods. The weekly publications date from 1854, but there are currently many gaps which I know could be filled.

  15. The Dublin Mercury/Hoey's Dublin Mercury 1766-1773

James Hoey was printer to the Catholic Committee in Dublin, and his newspaper catered for an elite Catholic readership, and was open in its support for the governing administration. It was one of the first newspapers of the time to cater for elite Irish Catholic opinion.

Copies of the Newspaper can be found at the British Library

  17. Blackburn Standard

This important textile town has much historical and economic news to offer those who are students of the social changes affecting many Lancashire towns from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. It would be especially interesting to see how the First World War years affected those citizens living at the time, and how those who lost their lives during this conflict were reported.

  20. Monmoutshire Beacon

Monmouthshire Beacon was online up to 1911 and was later updated to around 1950. I did considerable research and created many links to interesting local news stories only to find the BNA pulled the later editions leaving me with a totally wasted experience. No information is to be had about if or when the Beacon will be reinstated. No sensible responses have been given to enquiries on this. I suspect I have simply wasted 100's of hours researching and will never get the links working again. The answer is to download the lot and always be aware that the BNA…
