The Highlander (1873-1882)
The Highlander, published in Inverness between 1873 and 1881, is said to have focused on land reform and the Gaelic language, but it is also likely to have featured socialist ideas as the editor was "one of the founders of the Scottish Labour Party". Liverpool Courier
As we have seen, Liverpool papers are not adequately represented. The Liverpool Courier was one of the main papers during the early 20th century. The Liverpool Daily Post from 1914 to 1930 would also be an important and useful addition.

National Reformer
The journal was established in Sheffield in 1860, as an initiative by the Sheffield Secularists,on a prospectus describing its policy as "Atheistic in theology, Republican in politics, and Malthusian in social economy". Charles Bradlaugh was co-editor and periodically edited the journal through to 1890. Leading booksellers refused to stock it.
