Hoping someone might remember this place as fondly as myself!!! As a young child between the years 1975 and 1986, my parents and myself would often be seen in La Fontana restaurant at 11 Halliwick Court, Colney Hatch Lane N12 most Saturday evenings. I have the most fond memories of this lovely restaurant and have my fingers crossed that someone else out there remembers it too. Does anyone have a photo of the exterior of the restaurant? Obviously it's not there any more - I believe it's now a takeaway? Does anyone remember the owners, Mary & Angelo? I wonder so much if any information, photographs, memories that other people might have of this place. Anything at all would be very grateful received. Please help me to re-kindle my youth and memories. My father has now passed away and it would be so lovely to hear from anyone else that used to go there. Many thanks.

Cannells? Sweet Shop, Station Road
Does anyone remember this shop and who owned it? It was about 2 shops before Garfield Road, walking towards the gasworks. I remember it from the early 60s and was told that they were relations. The couple who ran it were quite elderly. Thanks

Found on your site an entry regarding the Coal Merchant in Oakleigh Road South. This was originally in the name of my grandfather Thomas William Cox. After he died in 1934 it was run by my grand mother Isabella Cox. For some years she also ran a shop at the corner of the alleyway linking The Avenue to Oakleigh Road. My Aunt Cis (Caroline Clifford nee Cox) lived at number 33 The Avenue and helped her husband with what was then illegal betting from the front room prior to the opening of Betting shops in 1963. I went to St Paul's school from 1952 to 1955 and I remember quite a few of the other kids from that time. One was Richard Scrivener whose mother ran a shop in Friern Barnet Road near Barclays Bank. We were a big class as born just after the war. I recall the Batchelor twins Irene and Eileen and the Taylor twins. My cousin Chris Cox was also there but in another class and he ran a motor repair business at the top of The Avenue in the sixties. Our favourite place to play was the railway embankment at the bottom of the Avenue. We often used to watch the trains from the line path at the side of the Railway Hotel (Turrets). Micky Warner was a friend of my brother who lived in the railway cottages at the bottom of the line path.

A group of us (ex Friern Barnet County pupils who left there 1963) have been trying to find Jenny Hartley with whom we were friends. Jenny married a soldier, became Jenny Whyte, moved near Salisbury. Jenny's original home was 11 Pollard Road, N20 and she had a younger brother. I think her Dad was into electrics - messing about with radios or something, and I believe her parents retired to Bournemouth

I am researching an accident than happened on the zebra crossing close to the junction of Hampden Road and Colney Hatch Lane in November 1954. Can any one help me in pinpointing where the zebra crossing was exactly located at that time, and where the bus stop for buses towards Muswell Hill Broadway (where buses waited while the crew changes took place) Thank you. Thank you

What happened to Spedan Tower and Holly House which was once a part of Edgware General Hospital's nurse training facilities when I was a student nurse in 1963? No old photos of them on the site. I have a photo of each if anyone is interested in including them in the archives. Just let me know.

For several decades I have re-watched All Passion Spent. It remains at the top of my list. This is from Mr. Cooks days. I will be visiting Hampstead one day the last two weeks in August. My visit will be an all day excursion from London. Is the house rented from Mr. Bucktrout in Hamstead and how might I find it, simply to say I've been there. It is what I do, visiting sites from my favorite BBC programs. My last visit I went to Chatsworth and Sandringham. I also intend to visit Keats' home and sit in the Heath to view Constable's trees. Please Advise. Thank You

Does anyone know where Hampstead Police Station would have been in 1946 ? My grandfather Edward Albert Giles was a constable there until July 1968 when he was dismissed for not turning up for work. From that day, he has disappeared from the records.
A photo of the building would be wonderful.
Thank you -

I am looking for Information on my 2 half brothers KEVIN LURTON and KERRY LURTON who were adopted in Enfield in 1959 and 1962. In 1966 my mum and dad emigrated from England to Australia with four daughters. Three years ago after my dear mum passed away, my sisters and I were informed that we had two older half brothers. We have no idea who their father(s) were but we do know that they were both born at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield Middlesex UK in the 50's The eldest was registered as Kevin Charles Lurton and was born on the 22nd January 1966 and the second son was Kerry Charles Lurton born the 20th March 1971. I am of the understanding that the first boy was privately adopted through our family "Dr Jones" and the surname "Hedges" was mentioned by my father. The second adoption could have been through the hospital. They could have resided in the Waltham Cross or Walthamstow area later in life Any help with any sort of information would be truly appreciated. Thank you
