Campbeltown Courier
Campbeltown and Kintyre is rural but a great many people spread throughout the world have links to it. It once had a thriving shipbuilding industry, a great many whisky distilleries and large fishing fleet. The area was also home to a United States Air Force base for many years. Many paddle steamers used to visit Campbeltown bringing huge numbers of both day-trippers and holiday makers. Dairy farming was and still is important to the local economy. Although not due to land clearances there were still many emigrations from Kintyre to the USA &
Canada.

Would LOVE to see this. I lived in Campbeltown in 1950 then moved to Irvine in 1957!

I concur also that this would be fabulous for families to be able to trace their history and backgrounds. We need to preserve the past, it’s so important!

I concur with the comments below. I am a family genealogist in New Zealand, building up pictures of the lives on my McKinnon and McMillan ancestors. The resource would be invaluable.

What an asset it would be if the Campbeltown Courier could be included in the BNA. An invaluable source of information on 'The hidden past' for amateur genealogists and the like.

As an Australian subscriber with family roots in Kintyre I and many others would appreciate a digital Courier .
It has a wealth of historical and cultural information about Kintyre from its initial publication till today.
Unfortunately one of the micro film rolls in the Campbeltown library has been lost making a systemic search at that location incomplete.

Considering the geographical size and spread of the county of Argyll it is very poorly represented by newspapers in the BNA. I strongly support the suggestion of the Campbeltown Courier as it includes news from the whole of the Kintyre peninsula which is very isolated from the rest of the county.
