We're looking for any 'extra' information we can find on the above mentioned address as well as it's occupants - between 1940s & 1960s... So far we have easily located Milman's Street on old maps - but 'Eign Cottages' appears to be more of a challenge! Can anybody help please? Thank You -

Edward Saunders was born in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire circa 1853. His wife Phoebe was born in Belgravia in 1863, she died in 1908. They lived in Meek Street, Chelsea and had several children; Caroline b.1884. Phoebe b.1888 - d.1905, Ivy (aka Louie) b.1891, Lucy b.1891 - d.1894, Maude b.1934, Fredie b.1940 and May b.1951. My husbands paternal grandmother was Caroline but the family history gets very sketchy beacause we can find no record of her ever marrying. She registered her son, Frederick's birth without a father but two years later she registered her daughter, Carrie Grace, and gave the father as Ernest Saunders and against her own name is the entry 'formally Paine'. To further complicate matters she brought both children up thinking their name was Chapman and put them in to a childrens home in Banstead in 1969 under that name. The only other clue we have to the possible identity of the father is that on both the birth certificate and on my father-in-law's marriage certificate, the profession of Ernest Charles) Saunders is shown as a miller (brewery). We would love to find anyone who might have connections with this family.

I would enjoy hearing from any of my contemporaries at Sinjuns. I was at the school from 1955-1962, with my twin brother, Bob. Have lived in the U.S. for some 23 years now. I know that a bunch of guys from what was the entry class of '55 meet regularly in local hostelries. Wish I could join them, but 3,000 miles is a little far to go for a drink! But, I'll defintely do so when I next visit "the old country" -- hopefully, next year. Would also like to hear from any guys who were at the school from 1955 to 1960/62, haven't joined the OBA, but nevertheless would like to hear what happened to some of us.

I have just looked at the various pictures of the old school in the 'Buildings' sections of Sinjuns. In 1959-60sh the houses opposite the school were demolished ( together with the bakers who sold the best jam doughnuts). At this time Dr Presswood suggested that people should have a look at the front of the school from a distance because the chance would not occur again for some years. Did anybody take pictures of the school at that time? If so can they be put on the website.

My maternal grandmother was Emily PHILLIPS She married Charles Richard RACKHAM CARR in August 1942. Prior to this she had an illegitimate child in 1961 who was my grandfather. He was brought up elsewhere in Chelsea but was given the surname CARR after her marriage although we have no evidence that Charles was indeed the father. Emily CARR died in 1978 as a result of an accident. I have further information on the CARR family. Please punish these dates from the Chelsea News

Would love to hear from anyone related to Richard as he was my great uncle and I know very little of this side of the family. He was born in 1855 in Ealing, eldest son of Joseph and Ann. He married Elizabeth Fairclough in Willesden in 1884 and had 4 children - Joseph Henry b. 1887, Elizabeth Ann b. 1888 and married Frederick Lewis in 1912, Lydia b. 1890 and married George Spurr in 1912 and Violet b 1914, married Sydney Garbutt in 1938 and sadly died a day after the birth of her daughter Viola June in 1947. Richard lived in Chelsea for most of his married life and died in 1968

I’m researching the ASHBY family of Chelsea. Starting with my GGG George Frederick ASHBY who came from Bishops Stortford, and for whom I have very few details. His son George Frederick Ashby 1828 -1912 was a carpenter, photographer and electrical engineer, so a man of many parts. His son Alfred Ashby was an Electrical Engineer and his Son Henry was an electrical engineer turned tool maker and body builder in the car industry. He also chauffeured rich Americans around Europe. George Frederik set up G F Ashby & Sons Electrical wholesaler and retailer of 184 King's Road, Chelsea, a shop which only shut in the 1980's. If anyone has any details of this family, wives as well as the men, I would love to hear from them. Thank you

Looking for records for Joseph Clark, born 1971, Chelsea. He reportedly had some sort of accident as a youngster, around 1979 or 80, which resulted in a hospital visit and the diagnosis of a concussion. As a result, the doctor told his mother that he was to stay out of school for five years. Apparently, Joey had a great time baiting and 'teasing' the truancy officers! Does anyone have any idea where the Chelsea hospital records would be found today, and what the name of the hospital would have been? Also, where would I find truancy officer records
