When I try to use the site with Mozilla Fire fox I get "Sorry, there has been a unexpected error, please refresh.
If the error continues please contact our support team." Why is that?1 voteOpen - Under review · AdminThe British Newspaper Archive (Head of Data Development, The British Newspaper Archive) responded
Is this still a problem, or was it a temporary error?

Can you give us a little more detail here? What places would you like to see photos of?
Millions - especially the young - are accessing sites like yours via smartphone. And your site is already ALMOST there - but not quite! Having found the articles I wanted, I was blocked at the very last stage - clicking on "view" - because the box mentioning credits was too large to fit on the screen of my phone, could not be modified, and made it impossible for me to click further (I am using Safari on an iPhone 6). So close! What about modifying that box so that it is smartphone-compatible? Thanks!3 votes
We will take a look at this – thx for the heads up!
Move this box out of this corner1 vote
Can you give us a little more detail here? Which box, which corner of which page?
I would like the ability to 'subscribe' to select papers. What this means is that I will be notified by email or message if my selected papers are updated with new issues, and notified which editions have been added.2 votes
This is a great idea!
The PDFs we get to download now are in some cases completely unreadable because the image resolution is far too low. This is especially disappointing when you save the PDF, and come back to do some work from it later on only to find it's a unusable.
Why can't we download high resolution images instead?64 votes
We will take a look at the options for this.
I tried to give you feedback but the text box for feedback is so tiny I resorted to screenshots in a PDF file to demonstrate.
Although I love the content on this site and am happy to pay for the digitization of new papers, the usability of this site needs improvement.11 votes
This is amazing pieces of feedback – thankyou! Some of it is already on our radar, but we will review this with our Product Director and Head of Design and aim to start feeding some of this into the product over the coming year. We really appreciate the time and care you have taken over this.
Include a highlight function for downloads.1 vote
Can you give us more information on this? At what point would you highlight something? Would you be wanting to highlight words, paragraphs or individual articles within a page?
I'd like to be able to download and/or print a page that highlights articles of interest as they appear on the screen.1 vote
Can you give us some more detail here? How would we work out which article were of interest to you, or are you just wanting an easier way to save and print individual articles as you come across them?
I'm presently editing text and find the digitised text box on the left a little too narrow. Yo have to scroll across to see the full line. Otherwise excellent.4 votes
Could you give us a little more detail here Nigel? What were the specific problems you were having?
Ability to flag scan quality issues with some pages and get them rectified.9 votes
Good idea – we will add this into the list
provide better descriptions of what you get for your money. If you get unlimited views for your 1 month and annual say so.4 votes
A very sensible suggestion! Currently this information is somewhat buried – we will see what we can do to improve this.
Hi, As an avid researcher I keep a close count of WW1 newspaper availability. These numbers inexplicably seem to be going down on a daily basis - what is going on as I can find no explanation. Thankyou5 votes
Thankyou – we will look at providing this information on an improved “Newspaper title” landing page. The data is available in our digitisation and search system but is currently not fed through to the site in a simple way.
