have the option for people to earn more 'free' articles for doing the work of rewriting the gibberish that often comes up in the auto scan
It would be great if you had an option for people to 'earn' more free access for doing the work of re-transcribing the scanned articles, many of which are not just slightly inaccurate but total gibberish.
You could have an easy system (they do this on Wikipedia, for instance) where there is a list of articles that need to be properly transcribed and users just go through them to earn 'points' that can be converted into access. (So, for e.g. transcribe 3 articles, get access to 3 more pages etc). You would just need to check the first few to make sure people were doing it properly, but then you could give them 'editor' status and they could do as many as they want.
Having a committed user base doing this work would make the BNA's own online resources much more accessible and accurate and cause significantly fewer complaints from paying subscribers
I also agree with other posters that there needs to be a 'report' button for articles that are not just mis-transcribed/written in fragments and symbols - but for times when the full text isn't selected in the 'text boxes' on the page, or where the highlighted section for that article either misses text from above/below or includes part of another article that isn't relevant. There is no way for us to edit that or flag it for correction currently.
