Lots of the newspaper archives are BOUND in volumes, and cannot be laid flat

If you search for your word IN THE EDIT BOX, you will go to that part of the edit text. Even better, if you then click, it will zoom/scroll the image.

The same applies to counties - much of my interest is on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. I would VERY MUCH like to search those two counties

You can already limit to a single newspaper.
Bu the Times has its own archive, and is not on the BNA

And the same for counties and publications.
ironically, the FMP interface, which is generally worse, handles this fine!

We will take a look a the feasibility of this – it is quite an Engineering challenge but we already have some pilot projects underway that may help with this.

It's tricky, since with fallible OCR, you're never certain if a match is really a match without reviewing it.

Agreed - even though the OCR is sometimes poor, I would love to be able to preview the OCR version (because it's fast) before going to full page, which is slow for ME, and puts a bigger load on YOUR servers.

We have redeveloped the digitsation workflow software so that it can provide more granular detail on titles. Now we are investigating ways to send the data from the workflow to the website and make it presentable.

I think Sue's "Hot Match" idea would (in practice) cover this, and is more general.
In the basic search box surround the name parts in quotes
"John Webb"
In Advanced Search, type
John Webb
Into the Use exact phrase entry field.
