I am trying to gather detail about Rita Petley, Madge Evelyn and Richard (Dick) Petley who lived in Eastfield Road, Eastney in the 1940/50's. The parents were Owen and Lynda (nee Bright) Petley This is for a family tree I am working on.

Im interested in any family links with the Slater family who lived at one time in Pendleton, Manchester. John William Slater was a tape sizer in the cotton mills, born around 1872 and died aged 67 in 1939. He married Mary Ellen? and had 2 daughters, Phyllis and Constance, born 1901. There was a Ralph Slater, a cotton operator, who died aged 33 in 1896. He was probably John's brother, but not sure. In 1925 Constance married Douglas Brodie Lowndes, born 1893. He was the son of Alfred Barry Lowndes and Mary Brodie who died in 1960. They lived in Eccles.

My grandfather was posted to RAF Melton Mowbray during the war. Basically had an affair with a local woman who had a child by him - a daughter. We are led to believe that the daughter married an American serviceman - moved to USA and died in a plane crash late 50s early 60s. We have no names. Can anybody shed a light
