The new results page is very confusing and not as straight-forward to use as the version I was using up until
The new results page is not as straightforward to use as the edition pre Jan 2016. The earlier version was much less difficult to use.

Missing Pages in Bristol Mercury of October of 1835
Something is quite wrong with the scans of the pages of the Bristol Mercury of October of 1835. Many are missing, and what is displayed does not necessarily match the page. How can one side of a page be digitized, and its reverse side is simply missing? I could understand if a sheet was missing, that both if its sides may be lost; but, one side digitized, and the other side isn't there? October 3, (3 pages); October 10, (2 pages, and page 1, shown, doesn't match the content for page 1); October 7, (2 pages); October 24, (3 pages);…

Missing Pages in Suffolk Chronicle of October of 1856
Is there some reason why only five pages, (out of four pages, and two pages of the Supplement), have been digitized? It is obvious that the missing pages exist, (as the edge of it can be seen on another scan, and the whole other side has been scanned), but these missing pages are not included?

Sort by length
I'd like to be able to sort not only by relevance or date but by length. When I am looking for the press coverage of an event, I am interested to find not those three-liners but the most comprehensive article I can get.

free pages
I have not yet signed up as a paying customer. I am interested in looking at the images in The Graphic.
In order to test the system, I wish to use the free 3 pages to check the resources for the resolution, colour etc. Past digitisation (especially from microfilm) of newspapers has been abysmal and not worth paying for. I therefore searched for known images. They came up, but when I tried to download the "free" page, it directed me to the payment page. How do I get a free page that can convince me that the quality of images…

Add number of matches to summary
It would be very useful to know how many matches within an article there are for the search criteria entered.

Help. The site is excellent on tracking items, but the size control fades after two seconds, and it is impossible to focus the print. This effectively means the service is of no use to me. Help.

Make it easier to see and read
How the heck are you suppose to read this. The print is way to small. And if you try to enlarge it. Well forget it. I was extremely excited to be able to get articles on my family even if I pay $15.00 each month. This will be my last if I can't even read it.

Re-Huddersfield Daily Chronicle
Your detail for this newspaper cites an unknown publisher. The publisher and owner of this newspaper was Joseph Woodhead and Sons Huddersfield, owners and publishers of its parent newspaper The Huddersfield Examiner, 1st issued 06/09/1855, and which became The Huddersfield Daily Examiner on 28/01/1871. The first issue of the Hudds Daily Chronicle was on the following Monday morning 30/01/1871. My Father worked for the Woodheads for 37 years, mostly as Sports Editor

Apostrophe
The name I search ends with an 's' but your search engine changes it to apostrophe s. This bring up thousands and thousands of irrelevant searches. Why is it changing what I type in?

Improve ordering of search results by date
The ordering of search results by date seems very erratic. Each page of results seems to be in date order, but sometimes pages seem to be out of sequence, so that (if asking for 'Dates (earliest)' results) the results on page 5, say, are in fact from earlier sources than those on page 4. This makes it difficult to know that one has seen all the results up to a given date if conducting a search over several sessions.

Locate position in transcription by clicking the image
When I open a page that has an article in which my search terms are found, I can click in the left hand transcription and jump to that location in the image.
In the image, I can the words that I searched for highlighted in blue boxes.
BUT I cannot click on those highlighted words and have the transcription jump to that line.
Why not? The images can be enormous, with many tens of lines. It seems completely sensible and exceedingly useful. Scrolling down that left column is soul destroying.
If you want me to bother to update the errors,…
