What a great website. For years I felt out of the loop re my alma mata.I was at Roan under Mrs. Barber, Mr. Billinton and Mrs. Scott from during the 1970's. Who remembers Wendy Riddle our homeroom teacher in 6th form with her cheerful "hello people". For those of us who survived our whacky and wonderful Miss Vincent (history), we are all the better for it today even if 25 years later we still do not remember anything save her cracking up about Wellington and the Papal Bull! Pearl Elizabeth Gunvor are you out there, also Jane W and Christine F? Julie C, Malvena, Hilary, Rhonda forgive my silence - I left Jamaica for the USA in '98. I would love to know about any re-unions planned for next year - If none, let us do it! Miss Cheatham and Mrs. Pollack you were he best, so were you Mrs. Dilly.I have become all of you

Anyone at Roan Girls in approx 1950-54 and remember going to Roan Boys for the dnacing lessons and remember "snakehips" who we tried to avoid asking us to dance with him? Remember the Dancing Teacher? And what about Founder's Day white gloves and all) when apart from the dancing lessons were the only times we were officially allowed to meet the boys? Any one remember Miss Hough (religious Knowledge) and the diminutive French Mistress who scared us all to death and ruled with an iron rod, and those Grammar lessons? Anyone from our crowd remember the appeal from the parish church (ST Alphege) who wrote to the Headmistress ( was that Miss Barnsdale ??) and asked for girls to come and help start up a youth club and swell the parish choir at the same time? Is the uniform the same green one, same colours, same badge? same motto? Honera et labore. Is the school still there

Does anyone know what is represented by the weather vane on the top of the Park Cafe in Greenwich Park (at the top, near the General Woolf memorial) please? Is the man an astronomer with a telescope or is he a naval man with a telescope? Crucial clue in our Greenwich Park Treasure Hunt. Many thanks

Im researching the death of a George Howard/Haward in Deptford in the 1940s/50s. He was apparently shot dead and dumped in a toilet near Deptford Bridge. Evidently he was a bit of a small-time gangster who had fallen foul of the wrong people . This is a Family History inquiry for his descendants Thank you

il Talbot families in and around Hammersmith.
Joseph Talbot, born in the Paddington area of Middlesex UK, married Sarah Ann Lewis who came from Port Talbot and they lived at Hammersmith which I think was then Middlesex, where they reared at least 12 children. North Street and Bishops Road are addresses which feature in his records. Joseph Talbot and his family ran a coffee house at Hammersmith. Joseph's father was Charles Talbot a cab (or carriage) driver, born in approximately 1946 at Paddington, where some records describe him as 'a car man'. Joseph's mother was born Mary Ann Munro in approximately 1970. Any information very much appreciated and am happy to share all my research. Thank you. I am extremely grateful for all information. Kind regards.
