You need to make it easier to search for things
I wanted drama reviews of the Liverpool Echo for Feb 1955. There was no way at all to specify this. Thousands of results, all of which has one of the numbers of the date in them. Utterly pointless.

Provide technical feedback on a selected extract
Although there is provision to "add a comment" on a selected extract, there is no user-friendly invitation to add technical feedback. e.g. if the extract is illegible.

Searching photo captions only
Looking for a photo of my grandfather and fellow soldier loading ammo into a pram. It would be useful to be able to search photo captions only as I've no idea if there was an article attached to the image. I just remember him telling me about the photo being in a British newspaper 1945.

List titles added the last 30 days in chronological order, not alphabetical
If the newspaper titles added during the last 30 days were listed in chronological order, rather than alphabetical, it would be a lot easier to keep track of titles being added from day to day. As it is now, that's almost impossible.

A clearer navigation route to display individual copies
If one wants to view individual copies of a title, rather than conduct a word search, it's not at all obvious how to do this. There needs to be a top level button or text link saying something like: View Issues

Listen to suggestions
Listen to previous comments and do something about it . Blaming the print is not an option. After trying numerous variations I stumble on articles which have the my first search words clearly in the text. Why does it miss them on the first search? Now I find that it refuses to find the word it has found previously in any publication.
The Gale Archive was far from perfect but was significantly better than this. I rue the day my local library withdrew it and subscribed to you a service I cannot access from home for free but have to…8 votes -
Better Search Tool
A better search tool is required. Today I have done an advances search for 1 street in a town and received almost 77,000 matches. There is no way all of these relate to the street and town I am searching for, the most relevant match relates to a birth in Cornwall whereas I'm looking for information on a street in a town in Scotland and it is impossible to wade through all of these matches.

Sometimes the template applied to a page does not match the underlying text
When I search for Whipp 1 Sept 1910 Portsmouth Evening News, only about half the article appears to be digitised so show article text is not helpful in retrieving OCR text. Portsmouth EN seems to be more problematic than most

Enable download of an item or part of a page in a way that preserves the full reference to the paper edition, eg as with Kansas newspapers.
http://kansashistoricalopencontent.newspapers.com enables users to easily select part of a page and save it to a PDF file which contains the reference source for the edition. This facilitates organisation and retrieval of downloaded files.

It would be useful to have 'letters' as a category to search for
I think at present letters to the editor are listed under 'Articles' but it would be useful if they were their own sub-section. Would be useful for researchers interested in local feeling on particular topics

Download saved group as .csv
Emulate TNA Discovery! Allow saved searches to be downloaded as .csv or similar to enable users to organise their data and gain much more from it. TNA downloads lots of fields - BNA would only need about 5 to be amazingly useful.

Can a secondary search facility be added to allow searches only within the initial group?
Can a secondary search facility be added to allow searches only within the initial group of records? Words which are almost certain to be in the article would determine the first group. Then, perhaps after filtering, secondary searches of that group can be made for possible words or phrases.

I've made suggestions before, though without feedback or apparent listening.
The Athenaeum
The Literary Gazette
It would be useful to nighthawks like me if you could provide a way which helps us distinguish exactly what has been added overnight. It would also be interesting to have some idea about policy for adding entire newspapers, once the odd year or two have been posted. It can sometimes be very frustrating just to have such tiny windows into particular localities, then have to wait months, if not years, before further years suddenly appear.

Allow restricting search to particular days of the week
Restrict search to days of the week eg Monday so it would return Saturday football results.
