Improve resolution of PDFs, or just let us download the original image
The PDFs we get to download now are in some cases completely unreadable because the image resolution is far too low. This is especially disappointing when you save the PDF, and come back to do some work from it later on only to find it's a unusable.
Why can't we download high resolution images instead?

Most important suggestion, don't let the people who ruined FindMyPast anywhere near the site
As in the title.
FindMyPast has been completely ruined by their 'improvements'. The British Newspaper Archive is owned by the same group so please do not let them anywhere near it, it might not be perfect but at least we can search reasonably easily and get results in a acceptable format unlike FindMyPast which many of us have just given up on even when we have subscriptions.
15 votesWe understand that the BNA’s customers are very different from findmypast, and the sites are run by different teams although they do share a lot of underlying technology.

This facility should already be there and you can also allow your browser to remember the username and password you use to sign in. If you’re having any problems with this, please do get in contact with Customer Support.

You should inform new customers that they have been put on auto renewal when signing up & inform them prior to doing so that you are about to take the next payment. This would allow naïve or trusting customers to cancel there subscription.

Focus resources on more titles/editions, not website improvements
While it is commendable that you want to improve the user experience, for those of us sorely missing key titles or editions from the site, it would be better to focus resources there. I'd rather not have these bells and whistles that people are asking for, if it means I can have more titles/editions on the site, especially from under-represented parts of the country. If the title I want is not covered, it doesn't matter how improved your search facility is!
3 votesHello, the two teams that perform these roles have completely different skillsets and are based in different locations so swapping staff would have no effect on the number of pages added. We are constantly looking at ways of upping the number of pages we publish and should have some healthy jumps in the amount of material published over the coming year.

Your SUMMER01 offer does not work. You should have a section for help and advice which is of some use.
No good having a special offer if one cannot take it up. I have tried three times to pay the £1 sub, but each time I get taken back to a panel which says "is it for myself, or a gift?" Then the whole tyhing time expires.

Hello there,
Just to reassure you that the yearly subscription gives you unlimited access. We think you are probably looking at the PayAsYouGo option which allows you to access 40 pages over the course of a year. Hope this helps!

All titles
Allow us to vote on a full list of available titles to add to the site !!
2 votesHello,
You can vote on any title you like using the “newspapers we should add next”. As long as it is a title from Britain & Ireland (up to 1920) it should in theory be available to us.

I have unticked the auto renew box every time and when I log in again the tick to renew is there again. I do not want to auto renew
I do not want to auto renew but the tick is always in the box even when I keep deleteing it. You say I can cancel at any time. I do not want to auto renew.
2 votesThis sounds like a bug – can you get in contact with our Customer Support team and they will make sure that it gets cancelled for you and try to work out what the problem is. support@britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk

Newspaper found on ipad access but not on main Mac
Have pages from The Yorkshire Telgraph and Star for October 1914 found using my iPad at home but when I go to the main home computer this title is not even in the list of newspapers! What's happening?
1 voteThis is strange – we are not aware of this newspaper – is there any chance it could be http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/search/results?newspaperTitle=Yorkshire%20Post%20and%20Leeds%20Intelligencer

A more efficient website. I struggled for half an hour to move the page of a newspaper and it did not work.
MAKE this site easier to use. We have paid for a month sub and will be claiming this back, as the site did not assist in our research whatsoever.

I have an unlimited account. So far this morning twice a search has left me on a blank page with "no data available" message.
HELP! I have an unlimited account. Twice this morning searches resulted in blank pages with "no data available" statement. Twice again on another search I got the message to tell you that there was error "viewer/bl/00000346/18740701/021/00003." What now????!!!! Brenda Turner

How 'pages remaining' are calculated
I had a bad experience using the site today. I found the article I wanted but when the system took me to the newspaper I couldn't find the specific article. I then seemed to run down my page view allowance of 40 pages in no time at all. I think the page view option should just charge once a page is selected and printed. Any chance of a refund this time as the system didn't even send me to the correct newspaper page.

Voting on Scanning Priority
Catalog of Newspapers and available periods stoed (physically) at BL - with an option at the archive site to subscribers to vote for next batch of scanning (paper/time period)... ie. the people paying for access have say in priority
1 voteYou can now do this via the “Newspapers we should add next” ideas board. In terms of seeing what is available at BL, this is slightly challenging, but please work on the assumption that anything which receives a lot of requests will be investigated by us to determine what holdings are readily available
